  4. Recently, the National Anti-profiteering Authority imposed a fine of Rs 230.41 crore on Johnson & Johnson for not giving proper benefits to GST cuts to customers. According to the NAA, Johnson & Johnson has not correctly assessed product pricing after tax cuts.
  5. Former Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel has taken over as the President of the European Council and the European Commission.   21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Medical University in Lucknow in the name of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Modi said- “Atal University, UP” will give totality and completeness to medical studies. There will be uniformity from the syllabus to the exam. The medical college will pursue every course related to dental, paramedical, and nursing medicine. Affiliation of all government, private institutions will be from this university. The formation of this university will further improve the medical education of UP. Earlier, on the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled his 25 feet high “statue” in Lucknow. It is the tallest statue of Atal Vajpayee made of Ashtadhatu.
  22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Atal Ground Water Scheme” in New Delhi. He said that this campaign will help supply water to every family by 2024. The Union Cabinet yesterday approved an amount of Rs 6,000 crore for this scheme. This scheme will be implemented in select areas of some states in five years. These states are Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. On this occasion, Shri Modi named the tunnel being built under the Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh to commemorate the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal Vajpayee took the historic decision to build this tunnel in June 2000. Its foundation stone was laid in May 2002. The Cabinet approved Rs 4,000 crore for this. 8. With the construction of this tunnel 8 kilometers long, the distance between Manali and Leh will be reduced to 46 kilometers. The Central Government named the “Rohtang Tunnel” as “Atal Tunnel”.

Of this, 20% of parking will be earmarked for electric vehicles. This policy has been formulated after taking feedback from UNEP (United Nations Development Program), experts and International Transport Council. The first draft of this policy was made public in November 2018. This policy is necessary to reduce pollution in Delhi as fossil fuel-driven vehicles have a high share of emissions of 80% – carbon monoxide, 40% – PM 2.5 and 80% – nitrogen oxide in Delhi.
  25. The nearly five-year-old dispute between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait over shared oil wells has ended. Both countries have agreed to produce oil in the region, but have insisted that the decision will not affect the commitment made to oil-producing countries to reduce crude oil production. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait signed an agreement to this effect in Kuwait. Local media reports said that at the time of stopping the production of oil in the region in 2015, it used to produce three lakh barrels of oil per day. The region is situated on the border of these two countries.

  32. Senior litterateur Dr. Ganga Prasad Vimal died in a road accident in Sri Lanka recently. He was around 80 years old. Vimal was born on 3 June 1939 in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. He did his Ph.D. in 1965 from Punjab University. Vimal has also been a professor at JNU and a director of the Central Hindi Directorate. He also taught at Osmania University and was also associated with Zakir Hussain College of Delhi University. Ganga Prasad Vimal was a poet, storyteller, novelist, and translator. His first poetry collection came in 1967 under the name “Vizjap”. His first novel, titled ‘Apne Se Alag’, came out in 1972.
  33. Union Tourism Minister Prahlada Singh Patel has said that in Uttar Pradesh, there are five sites of Archaeological Survey of India preserved in Chinese language signboards. These include Sarnath, Buddhist relics at Chaukhandi Stupa, Kushinagar, Mahaparinirvana Temple Pipparhava and Shravasti. Shri Patel said that keeping in mind the convenience of foreign tourists, the Ministry had directed the Archaeological Survey of India to put signboards in foreign languages ​​at all the places of archaeological importance. Signboards of foreign languages ​​will be installed at such places, where more than one lakh tourists come every year. Five foreign languages ​​have been chosen for this.
