  1. 22 children from 12 states were selected for the National Bravery Award 2019. These include 12 boys and 10 girls. This award will be given posthumously to a child. 15-year-old Aditya Kumar from Kerala will be given the Bharat Award. Aditya had saved 40 lives during the bus journey. The Indian Council of Child Welfare has announced five special awards this year. These include the ICCW Markandey Award, ICCW Dhruva Award, ICCW Abhimanyu Award, ICCW Prahlad Award, and ICCW Hearing Award.
  2. President Ram Nath Kovind presented the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award-2020 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. These awards are given annually to children who have made significant contributions in various fields. These awards are given to children for their achievements and bravery in the fields of innovation, social service, arts and culture, and sports. The President also honored 22 children selected for National Bravery Award with this award.
  3. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has launched the Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme. Under this, financial assistance will be provided to the families of those farmers who die while working in the fields or they become disabled. The government has decided to implement the Chief Minister of Tourism Promotion Scheme to promote tourism in the state.   5. The Government of Maharashtra has made it mandatory to read the Preamble of the Constitution in the schools of Maharashtra. The Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for all primary and secondary schools in Maharashtra to read the Preamble to the Constitution after prayer. India will become the “fourth” country to do such a feat.

India’s first space flight training simulator center and astronaut training center will be set up in Bengaluru and India will be able to carry out manned Gaganyaan mission in outer space by 2022.   10. The Central Government has constituted a ‘National Startup Advisory Council’ to give necessary suggestions to the government for building a strong ecosystem to promote innovation and start-ups. The Union Minister of Commerce will be the chairman of the National Startup Advisory Council. This council will also have non-official members to be nominated by the Government of India. Non-official members will include successful start-up founders, individuals experienced in building and growing a company in India, and individuals who are capable of representing the interests of investors in start-ups. Non-official members will have a tenure of two years. Officers belonging to Joint Secretary to higher rank Ministries, Departments and Organizations will be ex-officio members of the National Startup Advisory Council.
  11. Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated 32 water supply projects in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at a cost of about Rs 58 crore. These projects have started providing tap water to 40 thousand five hundred families of five districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Baramulla, Kulgam, Anantnag, Poonch, and Jammu. More than two lakh people have benefited from it. He told Shri Shekhawat that by 2021 all the families in the state will start getting water through taps, while its national target is to be completed in 2024.

  21. The Reserve Bank of India (Reserve Bank) has been taking steps to increase transparency regarding its functioning over the years.   26. India has slipped 10 places to 51st in the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU )’s 167 countries’ democracy index.
