  1. “Triathlon Asia Cup” is going to happen in India after 20 years. The “Tamil Nadu Triathlon Association” under the Indian Triathlon Federation (ITF) is organizing this event. It will include 30 triathletes from other countries including France, Serbia, Japan, Chile, Switzerland, Poland, Nepal, and Ukraine, while over 70 participants from India will participate. “Triathlon” consists of three sports (cycling, swimming and running). It consists of 1.5 kilometers of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running. The event first took place in 1989 in Avignon, France.
  2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the Khelo India University sports competitions being organized for the first time in Cuttack, Odisha. In this way, India has joined the ranks of the countries hosting the University Games. In the competitions, three thousand four hundred students from 159 universities across the country will try to win prizes in various events. Rugby has also been included in six team events.
  3. The Department of Telecommunications has launched the “5-G Hackathon” in collaboration with the government, education, and industry. It will be completed in three stages. The “Hackathon” will conclude at the India Mobile Conference on 16 October this year. Winners of various stages will be awarded. The total award amount is Rs. 2.5 crores. The 5-G Hackathon will allow the students, other education representatives, startup enterprises, small and medium enterprises and companies registered in India to participate. Various parties related to this field will be able to share experiences related to “5-G Network” in the context of India.
  4. Pakistan organized a two-day meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) defense and security experts in Islamabad. India and other member nations participated in it. The SCO’s 9th Defense and Security Expert Working Group met on 19 and 20 February in which different aspects of cooperation between SCO member countries and regional security were discussed.
  5. Sweden’s central bank “Riksbank” began testing the digital version of the currency, e-krona. If this year-long pilot project was successful, it would create the world’s first “central bank digital currency” (CBDC).
  6. The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) in New Delhi, in association with Achromic Point, organized the second edition of the annual Direct Tax Summit and Awards 2020 of an international consulting firm. The award aims to address issues related to direct tax and its implications. Dharampal Satyapal Limited won the award for the best in-house direct tax team of the year.

Manoj Kumar, a Hindi cinema great actor, and Padma Shri recipient has been honored by the World Book of Records with Bollywood’s WBR Golden Era Award for showing patriotic, social, cultural sentiments in Hindi cinema and his unique contribution to Indian cinema. Earlier, Padma Vibhushan Dilip Kumar was also honored with this honor. Significantly, he was also known as Bharat Kumar for his acting and successful direction in patriotic films. In 1992, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. He was given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2015, India’s highest award in cinema.
  8. The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has appointed Vijay Advani as the new chairman of the global board of directors. Advani has taken up this position at a time when bilateral trade between India and America is growing rapidly. It has increased to $ 160 billion in 2019.
  9. Askdisha chatbot was initially introduced in the English language but to enhance customer services and further strengthen chatbot’s services, IRCTC has now upgraded Askdisha to communicate with customers in the Hindi language.

Odisha’s Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, along with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, presented an annual budget of Rs 1.5 lakh crore for 2020-21 as against Rs 1.39 lakh crore for FY 2019-20. The Government of Odisha has turned into a paperless budget for the first time and is the second state in India after Himachal Pradesh. The budget, called the Green Budget, is an initiative under the 5T action plan to reduce the printing of 75 lakh pages to save about 1000 trees.
  11. IIT Kanpur and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have developed cockroach-shaped insect copters, which will serve the Army. This palm-capable insect copter (worm-shaped flying machine) specializes in dodging enemies as well as fine-tuning. The advanced version of this 40-gram drone is being reduced to just 22 grams. After initial use, it will be given to BEL for testing by March. Preparations to be handed over to the army and other paramilitary forces after testing by June. Apart from internal and border security, it can also be used for various tasks such as monitoring railway tracks, supervising electrical wiring, in any rescue operation, flood and arson conditions or inspecting the bridge.
  12. Union Minister of State Mansukh Mandavia inaugurated India’s first floating jetty on the banks of the Mandovi river in Goa and also inaugurated an immigration facility office at a cruise terminal in Vasco, Goa. The floating jetty is made of cement concrete made over a short time, which will promote inland waterways, they are environmentally friendly and will be built in 3 more Goa.
  13. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has launched the National Level Awareness Program (NLAP) 2020 from 17 February 2020 to 28 February 2020. The main objective of NLAP is by the Ministry and its affiliated organizations such as the Office of Development Commissioner (MSME), Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Coir Board, National Small Industries Corporation Limited, MSME National Institution, MSME Technology Center and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization. To spread awareness about the schemes and activities conducted.
  14. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new army headquarters building in Delhi Cantonment. The crystallized complex named ‘Army Army Building’ will be spread over 39 acres. A total of 6014 offices will be built in this building, which will establish offices for both military and civilian and 4330 sub-staff for 1684 officers.

According to the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the population of a notified minority community Parsi (Parsi) under the National Minorities Commission Act, 1992 increased from 233 after 2013 when the government launched the Jio Parsi scheme. So far, the central government has spent Rs 14 crore in 7 years for this scheme. Jiyo Parsi scheme is run by the Ministry of Minorities. The objective of the scheme is to increase the population of the Parsi community.

Former West Indies captain “Darren Sammy” will be given honorary citizenship by the Pakistan government for the return of international cricket to the country. “Darren Sammy” is currently captaining the team “Peshawar Zalmi” in the 5th season of the Pakistan Super League. He will also be honored with the country’s highest civilian honor “Nishan-e-Haider” on 23 March with honorary citizenship. President of Pakistan Arif Alvi will give him this honor. He is the third international cricketer to receive honorary citizenship of a country. Earlier, Matthew Hayden of Australia and Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa were honored by the St. Kitts government after the 2007 World Cup.
  17. The telecom department approved the merger of Indus Towers and Bharti Infratel. On completion of this deal, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will open options to raise money by selling a stake in the company. Bharti Infratel and Vodafone Group currently hold a 42-42% stake in Indus Towers. Vodafone Idea also holds an 11.15% stake in it. The remaining 4.85% stake is held by private equity firm Providence. The combined company formed after this merger will have more than 1,63,000 telecom towers across the country. They are operating in all 22 telecom service areas. The combined company formed by the merger will be the world’s largest tower company except for China. The combined company will have full ownership of the business of Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers. The company will be renamed Indus Towers Limited and the combined company will continue listing on the domestic stock exchanges.
  18. Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US have developed a new antibiotic for the first time with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This will eliminate the world’s dangerous and drug neutralizing bacteria. According to research published in the journal Cell, scientists have named this new antibiotic as helicene. It is very powerful, which also easily eradicates bacteria like e-coli.
  19. The Government of West Bengal has planned to start an in-house radio station in all the seventy-seven correctional homes in the state. State Home Minister Ujjal Biswas said that this decision has been taken after the success of a pilot project in Dum Dum Central Correctional Home recently. He said that this scheme has been launched to facilitate the inmates of the jail.
  20. The Maharashtra government ordered the destruction of Thai Mangur fish breeding centers. The main reason for this is that this fish is cultivated under unhygienic conditions. This species of fish in Maharashtra is commonly called Thai Mangur or exotic Mangur or African Mangur. The unhygienic conditions under which these fish species are being cultivated can make people fall ill. In 2000, the National Green Tribunal banned the cultivation of Thai mangur. So far, the Maharashtra government has destroyed 32 tonnes of Thai Mangur.
  21. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Palakkad has decided to set up a Data Science Research Center. The center, to be set up in Kanjikode, aims to provide a platform for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science research. The center is named ‘Center for Research and Education in Data Science’. This data science center will work closely with the government, industries and other academic institutions.
  22. Experts of the Swedish Museum of Natural History have found the remains of a 46 thousand-year-old bird in Siberia. Experts say that it was preserved extremely well. This bird is the horned lark, which is still found in eastern Russia and Mongolia.
  23. In Arunachal Pradesh, the Brahmaputra Board under the Ministry of Water Power organized a day-long campaign to clean the Senki River in the capital Itanagar. It was organized by Youth Mission for Clean River in collaboration with Itanagar District Administration. More than four hundred volunteers from all walks of life participated in the campaign. The Senki River flows through the city of Itanagar.

  25. All the schools in Maharashtra will ring the bell at least three times during school time to encourage children to drink water. The ringing of water bells in schools will be introduced to instill in children the habit of drinking enough water. This is necessary for the good health of children. The state’s Department of School Education and Sports recently issued a notification asking to determine the time of ringing of bells in schools and include them in their daily schedule.

The Kolkata Geological Survey of India (GSI) said that about 3,000 tonnes of gold reserves have not been discovered in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, but it is estimated to have found 160 kg of gold which was revealed in the previous survey. GSI worked here in 1998–99 and 1999–2000. Elucidating the situation, a media report in the past which was said to have discovered 3000 tonnes of gold reserves said that GSI Director-General “M Sridhar” said that no such figures were given by anyone of GSI.
  27. Ravi Dahiya (57 kg), who won the Tokyo Olympics quota to the country, won the gold medal in the ongoing Asian Wrestling Championship at KD Jadhav Stadium here. Gaurav Balyan and Satyavrat Kadian, including star wrestler Bajrang Punia, had lost the final in their respective classes, disappointing everyone in the freestyle and had to be content with the silver medal. Indian women wrestler Gursharan Preet Kaur (72 kg) returned to wrestling at the age of 37 after eight years in the Asian Championships.
  28. 21 February has been observed as ‘Martyr’s Day’, also known as ‘Amar Ekushe’, in memory of the martyrs who died in the Bangla language movement in Bangladesh. This day is celebrated every year to pay tribute to the martyrs of the language movement. Bangladesh President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started the day by paying tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during the Pakistani police firing on 21 February 1952 in Dhaka during the language movement.

Russia will be the first country to host the new format of the “AIBA – Association Internationale de Boxes Amateur or International Boxing Association” Team World Cup 2020 which was approved by the Executive Committee members of the “AIBA” at a meeting held in Budapest, Hungary, Europe. The boxing tournament will coincide with the 75th anniversary of victory in World War II under the motto ‘Boxing for Peace’.

FC Goa, an Indian professional football club has created a new history in Indian football, defeating Jamshedpur FC in an Indian Super League (ISL 2019-20) and the first to qualify for the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Champions League 2021 group stage Became Indian club. FC Goa beat Jamshedpur 5–0 with a brilliant performance at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
