Urjit Patel has been appointed as the President of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP). It is an economic think tank located in New Delhi, India. Urjit Patel has been appointed for four years. He will replace current chairman Vijay Kelkar. Urjit Patel has previously been the Governor as well as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He resigned as the Governor of RBI in December 2018.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan to provide livelihood opportunities to the migrant laborers and rural people returning to their respective states. The Prime Minister inaugurated it through video conferencing from Telihar village of Beldaur block in Khagaria district of Bihar. Apart from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren and many Union Ministers were also present on the occasion. 50 thousand crores have been allocated for this project.
