India will send a 75-member team of the three forces to participate in the military parade held in Moscow on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory in World War II. The parade is being held to honor the valor and sacrifice of soldiers of Russia and coalition countries in the Second World War. The Russian Defense Minister has invited the Indian contingent to participate in the Victory Day parade on the 24th of this month. India’s participation in the parade will be a symbol of solidarity and tribute to the people of Russia in commemorating the great heroes of the World War.
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) approved a $ 750 million loan to India. This fund is to be used by the Government of India to strengthen the fight against the impact of COVID-19 on the poor and vulnerable. The assistance was co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This money will be used to improve the informal sector, protect the needy, and strengthen the country’s health care system.
The Ahmedabad Hospital and Nursing Home Association have launched in-home care of mild or medium grade corona infected patients to reduce the burden of covid care centers. Initially, seven private hospitals have been selected under this initiative. In the coming days, it will be extended to fifty hospitals.
Khadi and Rural Industries Commission in Maharashtra – KVIC has taken a unique initiative to make Neera and Palm jaggery, which will create huge employment opportunities. The purpose of this project is to develop Neera as a beverage. For this, the commission has started the installation of conventional trappers at Dahanu in Palghar district. There are more than 50 lakh palm trees in Maharashtra. Under the project, KVIC has distributed tool kits to 200 local artisans for extracting neera and making “targad (ताड़गुड़)”. This tool kit includes food-grade stainless steel embroidery, perforated molds, canteen burners, and other tools such as knives, ropes, and axes to remove neera. Neera is extracted from the palm tree before sunrise and is consumed as a nutritious health drink in many states of India.
The Union Sports Ministry has decided that sports facility complexes located in all states and union territories will be developed as Sports India State Centers of Excellence. In the first phase, these campuses will be developed in eight states – Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that these campuses are being set up to improve India’s performance in the Olympic Games. The objective of their establishment is also to provide world-class sports facilities in each state. The operation and maintenance of these premises will be the responsibility of the respective state or union territory. The expenditure on trainers, equipment, staff, and infrastructure will be provided under the Games India Scheme.

India and Nepal signed a memorandum of understanding to improve the infrastructure of the Pashupatinath temple complex. The Government of Myanmar has constituted a tribunal to investigate the construction of the megacity project being built in collaboration with China in the state of Karen. Myanmar’s Union Deputy Minister U Tin Mint has been elected as the chairman of the committee set up to investigate the project. The construction of this project is being done by a Chinese company. The project was started on a small scale in 2017, but it was later revealed that an entire international city was being built under it, with plans to build hotels, casinos, airports, and tourist destinations. The project was temporarily postponed last year on charges of breaking investment regulations. According to reports, the project is displacing local people and construction materials are being brought from China or Thailand. It was also reported that thousands of workers are being brought from China instead of skilled workers from Myanmar.
The Supreme Court of India issued a notice to the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) and the Central Government to provide health insurance for mental illness. In 2018, the IRDA issued a circular asking all insurance companies to follow the Mental Healthcare Act. According to the act, mental illness is covered under health insurance. Also, insurance companies are mandated to include mental illness under their health insurance policies. The Act made it mandatory for all insurance companies to follow their law provisions. It is included under Section 21 of the Mental Healthcare Act. However, it is still not widely implemented.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been conferred with the prestigious Deendayal Upadhyaya Empowerment Award for outstanding contribution to social and economic development through Gram Panchayats across the state. According to the new rules, no employee will be considered eligible for permanent appointment in service or category until he has completed two years of continuous or total service in that service or category.
