  1. “United Nations (UN)” has reduced India’s GDP growth forecast from 7.6% to 5.7% in 2019-20. “UN” is the 7th institution that has reduced India’s growth projection. Earlier, World Bank, RBI, SBI, ADB, Moody’s and Nomura also reduced growth projection. However, the “UN” estimate is 0.7% higher than the government and RBI’s estimate of 5%.
  2. Tejas Express, the second corporate train of the country, has started on 17 January. It was flagged off by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This train has been run on Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central route. From January 19, passengers will be able to travel in it. The country’s first private train is running between Lucknow to Delhi.
  3. Indian Space Research Organization – ISRO’s communication satellite GSAT-30 was successfully launched from French Guiana with an Ariane-5 rocket. GSAT-30 will provide quality services for television, telecommunications, and broadcasting. This three thousand 357 kg satellite has 12-C and 12-Ku band transponders. It will replace INSAT-4A with relatively higher coverage, expiring. Apart from India, Australia, Gulf countries, and a large number of other Asian countries will also come under its purview. This satellite will work for 15 years.
  4. Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel said that in the year 2019, more than 01 lakh 92 thousand foreign tourists visited India. He informed us that a target has been set to double it in the next five years. Speaking to the media in New Delhi today, he said that in the year 2018, more than one million twelve thousand foreign tourists had come.
  5. The Indian Army recently organized an exercise called Winged Raider, in which more than 500 soldiers took part. The exercise was conducted in the North-Eastern battlefield. The exercise was organized to demonstrate the preparation of paratroopers and aerial warriors. C-130 Hercules, pole helicopters and C-17 globe master transport aircraft were used in this exercise.
  6. The Union Ministry of Health has issued a travel advisory for those traveling there keeping in mind the outbreak of the Novel Corona-virus in China. The Health Ministry has said that the outbreak of the virus has been reported in China and 41 cases have been confirmed till January 11. The travel consultation states that the symptoms of the disease include fever, runny nose, cough and trouble breathing in some patients. Nothing has been known as to how the disease spreads. The Ministry has suggested in travel consultations that those traveling to China should take special care of personal hygiene and avoid contact with people who are ill or have symptoms of illness. The consultation also asks people not to go to farms, cattle markets or slaughterhouses. Wearing a mask is recommended if you have trouble breathing.
  7. The Government of Assam, the Government of India and the World Bank signed a $ 88 million agreement for the implementation of the Assam Inland Water Transport Project. The agreement aims to modernize Assam’s ferry transport service across the Brahmaputra River. The objective of the Assam Inland Water Transport Project is to improve Assam’s ferry infrastructure and strengthen the institutions that conduct inland water transport. New energy-efficient vessels will also be used in this project. Cargo vessels will also be included in this project. Inland water transport also reduces the cost of transportation and it also reduces carbon emissions.
  8. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released a policy draft on 13 January 2020 on rare diseases. According to this policy draft, the government will provide financial assistance of up to Rs 15 lakh under the ‘National Health Fund’ scheme for lump-sum treatment of rare diseases. The main objective of this policy draft is to assist Rs 15 lakh to those poor people who cannot bear the cost of treatment. This draft had been in demand for a very long time. This draft is named Rare Disease in 2020.

Mihir Shah, Professor at Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as the chairman of the 11-member committee to draft the National Water Policy (NWP) and submit the report within 6 months from the date of formation Have to do it. Three national water policies have been formulated in the country after independence. The first, second and third National Water Policy was framed in the years 1987, 2002 and 2012 respectively. The National Water Policy considers water as a natural resource, as the basis of life, livelihood, food security and sustainable development.   10. The Indian Air Force is soon to deploy the first squadron of Sukhoi fighter jet (Sukhoi-30 MKI) equipped with BrahMos missile at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. South Central Railway has entered into an agreement with State Bank of India (SBI) for ‘doorstep banking’ under which the bank will arrange for collection of cash received by the scheme at all 585 stations of the zone. Till now, the railway sends the cash received at its stations to the bank in ‘safes’ by train. This is a very complex task and it also carries risks. Also, human labor is consumed in it.
  12. The science conference will be inaugurated at the National Science Center for Progress Sciences on 21 January 2020 in New Delhi, concluding on 20 March 2020. It will be a science exhibition. The exhibition will be organized by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy. The MoU will facilitate the production of short video modules for students and trained professionals.   14. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (ERDA) has approved two new insurance products to Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. It has one product related to health insurance and another product related to motor insurance. The health insurance product is named ‘Co-pay’ and the motor insurance product is named ‘Pay as you consume’. Bajaj Allianz General Insurance is a private non-life insurance firm.
  15. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Oleksiy Honsharuk has submitted his resignation to President Volodymyr Zalesky. Mr. Honsharuk held this position for less than six months. A recorded statement by Honsharuk earlier this week revealed that he had allegedly told President Zelenski of failing to handle the country’s economic situation. He said that the dignity of his post has been affected by the unfolding of this recording.
  16. Arunachal Pradesh signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the “International Nature Conservation Association” (IUCN) for red-listing of orchids. Arunachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to have started the Red Listing of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at the state level. As per the agreement, the state government will cooperate with IUCN in evaluating the red listing of orchids in the state. IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species is an important indicator of the health of the world’s biodiversity. A powerful tool to inform and catalyze action for biodiversity conservation and policy change, it is important in protecting natural resources.
