  1. On the recommendation of India, the United Nations General Assembly has declared 21 May as International Tea Day. India proposed 4 years ago at the International Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) inter-governmental group meeting in Milan. At present every year on December 15, International Tea Day is celebrated in the tea producing countries. Earlier, on the initiative of India itself, the day of June 21 was fixed for International Yoga Day.
  2. The Haryana Police has adopted the unique barcoding software “Trakea” to ensure tamper-free criminal investigation. It is a forensic evidence management system that helps in automation of the entire process related to criminal investigation right from the time of collection of important samples/samples by forensic experts from the crime scene. The objective of TRACIE is to ensure the security of forensic reports and to develop a tamper-free tracking system of these reports. It functions in line with forensic science laboratories. Apart from this, the selection of forensic teams is also done randomly through this software. According to the Haryana Police, it is the first police force in the country to have introduced this unique bar-coding to protect forensic reports.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., a Japanese public multinational corporation, has launched the world’s first ocean-going liquid hydrogen carrier ship designed to transport minus 253 ° C liquid hydrogen to Kobe, Japan, produced in Australia’s South Coast. The liquid hydrogen carrier tank is named ‘Suizo Frontier’ at a ceremony held at Kobe Works Yard, Japan.

IOC’s revenue grew by 26.26% during this period, but profits declined by 21.69%. ICICI Bank came in at number 12 this year. Ranked 14th in 2018. Larsen & Toubro climbed one place to number 11.
  5. The Marathon Climate Dialogue in Madrid lasted for two weeks under the auspices of the United Nations. There was a significant discussion in this dialogue about controlling the extraordinary rise in the temperature of the Earth. There was no final decision on the global carbon market and it has been deferred till next year. In the talks, representatives of about two hundred countries of the world issued a collective manifesto. The declaration said that the reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases responsible for the rising temperature of the earth and the help of poor countries affected by climate change. The next dialogue on climate change will be in Glasgow, Scotland.
  6. In Jammu and Kashmir, by the end of this month, a box will be installed in each panchayat in which citizens can submit their complaints and suggestions. Chief Secretary Subramaniam has instructed all the Deputy Commissioners to impose a duty of government employees to collect complaints every week from these coaches. The decision to put coaches in all panchayats was taken earlier this month in the first meeting of the Administrative Council chaired by the Lieutenant Governor.
  7. Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Narwane will be the new Chief of the Indian Army. He is currently the Deputy Chief of the army comprising 1.3 million soldiers. His appointment has been approved at a high level and the government has followed the rule of seniority in the matter. Narwane will replace the current army chief, General Bipin Rawat, who is retiring on 31 December. He is expected to become the first Chief of Defense Staff.
  8. Vishwanathan Anand unveiled his autobiography ‘Mind Master’. The book is jointly written by Anand and sports journalist Susan Ninn. It is published by THG Publishing Private Limited. The book contains wonderful summaries of Viswanathan Anand’s journey.

Google, the largest search engine giant, has claimed to be the world’s largest mapping service company, as Google Earth now covers more than 98 percent of the world and 10 million miles of Street View imagery, which is so Distance from which the world can be cycled more than 400 times.   10. Recently, the Government of India has extended the deadline of the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan to March 2020. The objective of this campaign is to make public places friendly to the disabled. The Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Modi on 3 December 2015. Its objective is to ensure accessibility for differently-abled people across the country. Under this, the movement of disabled people in schools, hospitals, workplaces, transportation sites has to be made uninterrupted. The goal of this campaign is to make at least 50% of government buildings accessible to PwDs. The expedition was to be completed in three phases. The first phase was intended to make international airports accessible to PwDs by the end of 2016, with the second phase aiming to make 25% of public transport vehicles accessible by the end of 2017. In the third phase, 50% of government buildings were targeted to be made accessible to PwDs.
  11. The Center released an amount of 35,298 crores as GST compensation to the States and Union Territories. This step has been taken two days before the GST Council sits on 18 December. Measures to increase revenue are likely to be discussed in the meeting. GST recovery is improving. Its recovery in November was six percent higher than the same month of the previous year. The gross revenue collection of GST in November was 1,03,425 million rupees.

  13. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has removed Belgium’s Carnival of All from the Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The 2019 Carnival featured a parade float featuring racist and anti-Jewish representation that mocked Orthodox Jews. Carnival was added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010.
  14. Former Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune was elected the new President of Algeria, replacing the current head of state, Abdelkader Benali. He served as PM from May 2017 to August 2017 in the government of President Abdulaziz Bouteflika.
  15. The Ministry of Coal will set up a Sustainable Development Cell (SDC) to make coal mining in the country environmentally friendly. This will make it possible to address environmental concerns when mining operations or closure of mines. The cell will consult, plan and monitor measures to maximize the utilization of available resources and to minimize the ill effects of mining. The Sustainable Development Cell will also outline future policy for measures to mitigate environmental problems, including mine completion funds. The Sustainable Development Cell will include improving working conditions for the miners and providing a better environment for those living around the mine.
  16. The Central Government has extended the date of compulsory implementation of Fastag till January 15, 2020. Earlier there was a plan to compulsorily implement FASTAG from December 1, 2019 (subsequently December 15). The purpose of this date change is to provide people with extra time to apply fastags to their vehicles. It is worth noting that after January 15, 2020, vehicles without fastag will be charged double the toll. Toll lanes will be paid in cash in the toll lane by January 15, 2020.
  17. The World Design Organization is all set to launch its new global program World Design Protopolis in Bengaluru. The Rover is built and managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. “Mars 2020” will explore the possibilities of water and life occurring on the ancient delta ‘Jezero Crater’. The ‘Mars 2020’ weighs over 99 pounds (45 kg) over curiosity that will be capable of carrying large equipment and drills for excavation, as well as being able to make any changes to suit physical conditions. Apart from this, the rover will also collect soil samples by digging on the surface of Mars.
  19. A joint military training exercise between India and Nepal, the concluding ceremony of Surya Kiran-XIV was held at Nepal Army Battle School (NABS), Saljhandi, District Rupendehi (Nepal). In this military exercise, troops from both countries participated in a 14-day long joint training based on counter-insurgency operations in forests and hilly areas.   23. Bangladesh has appealed to India to share the list of Bangladeshis living illegally in the country. Foreign Minister Abdul Momen said the government would allow Bangladeshis living illegally in India to return. There is a lot of sweetness in the relationship between India and Bangladesh and will not be affected due to the National Register of Citizenship (NRC). According to Momen, India has already reported the NRC as an internal issue. In such a situation, Bangladesh will not have any effect on it.
  24. Edelweiss Asset Management Company (AMC), a subsidiary of Edelweiss Capital Limited (ECL), has launched the first corporate bond ETF (Exchange Trade Fund) in India called Bharat Bond ETF. The ETF is a government initiative and Edelweiss AMC was entrusted with the design and management of the product. Edelweiss Mutual Fund through the ETF initially proposed to raise an amount of Rs 3,000 crore, with a target of Rs 2,000 crore of over-allotment option (Green Shoe option) over a three-year maturity period (2023). Apart from this, a maturity period of 10 years (2030) will raise an amount of Rs 4,000 crore, which will have a greenshoe option of Rs 6,000 crore. Small retail investors will have to invest at least Rs 1,000 in this fund. After which other investments will be facilitated. They can invest up to 2 lakh only. The minimum amount for anchor investors has been fixed at Rs 10 crore.
  25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chaired the first meeting of the National Ganga Council. The meeting was organized in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The purpose of the first meeting of the Council is to focus exclusively on the importance of a ‘Ganga-centric’ approach in all the departments of the respective states as well as the Central Ministries. The Council has been entrusted with the entire responsibility of pollution prevention and rejuvenation of the river Ganga basin, including the Ganges and its tributaries. The Prime Minister urged to develop a holistic view of converting a sustainable development model ‘Namami Gange’ into ‘Earth Ganga’ with a focus on economic activities related to Ganga. Income from eco-tourism and promotion of Ganga wildlife conservation and cruise tourism etc. will help in creating a sustainable income source for Ganga cleanliness.

Reliance Strategic Business Ventures (RSBVL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has acquired a 51.78 % stake in Asteria Aerospace for Rs 23.12 crore. “The RSBVL has acquired the shares of Asteria Aerospace for Rs. 23,12,49,584 in cash. This is 51.78 % of the equity share capital of Asteria,” said Reliance Industries in a notice sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
  31. Tehran University of Iran has created a robot that can speak 100 languages. It can translate by understanding as many languages. It can recognize faces and kick the football. According to the report, the university’s Faculty of Engineering has designed the robot in four years. It is named ‘Surena’. It can pick up things. It can recognize up to 100 different objects. The robot Surena is 170 cm long and weighs 70 kg. Capable of running 700 meters in an hour. On bumpy ground, it can maintain balance by turning back and forth and right-left.
