  1. Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank inaugurated the web portal Yukti (Young India Combating COVID with Knowledge, Technology and Innovation-YUKTI) in New Delhi. Through this portal, the efforts and initiatives of the Ministry on Youth India Combining Covered with Knowledge Technology and Innovation will be monitored. It aims to deal with the various challenges of Kovid-19 with totality and comprehensiveness. That is, the operation and monitoring of all the activities related to the ministry will now be done through this same portal.
  2. For the first time in 144 years, Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to stop the annual transfer of capital from Jammu to Srinagar in the state because of the current COVID-19 epidemic. This process of transfer of capital started about 148 years ago is known as ‘Darbar Move’. , Which was started in the year 1872 by Dogra ruler Maharaja Ranbir Singh (from 1856 to 1885) to establish a better administrative system. According to this practice started by the Dogra ruler Maharaja Ranbir Singh, the Maharaja’s court was held in Srinagar for 6 months and in Jammu for 6 months. According to historians, the Maharaja’s convoy left for Srinagar in April and returned in October. The Dogra rulers continued this practice until the year 1947 and after the year 1947, the practice of transferring capital to the place of the court started.
  3. The National Innovation Foundation-India (NIF) has introduced an indigenous herbal medicine (dewormer) as an alternative to the chemical method for the treatment of worms in animals. It has been produced commercially. The indigenous herbal medicine (dewormer) has been introduced under the name ‘Vermivet’. NIF worked on a treatment method sent by Mr. Harshadbhai Patel of Gujarat to manufacture endoparasite (worm) infection disease in animals for the manufacture of this drug. NIF found this indigenous treatment amazing. The effect of this anthelmintic in natural infection was evaluated. The result demonstrated the successful effect of this drug.
  4. The government is ensuring the availability of affordable medicines at 6,300 “Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras” across the country. Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said that the warehouses of “Jan Aushadhi Kendras” are functioning day and night because of the situation of the corona epidemic. The general public can use the “Jan Aushadhi Sugam Mobile App” to see “Jan Aushadhi Kendra” near you and know the price of medicines.
  5. In Manipur, a new initiative called the “Food Bank” has been launched by the Imphal East district administration to provide immediate assistance in the form of free food to the poor and needy, which has faced a shortage of essential commodities because of the long statewide bandh are doing.
  6. The Chandigarh administration has launched a CVD tracker app with geo-fencing technology to keep a watch on people under special surveillance. The Android app has been developed for identifying and geo-fencing the surroundings of quarantined people. It will be mandatory for people with special surveillance to download this app on their mobiles. Each user living in quarantine will be fenced up to a distance of 50 meters from the residence and the quarantine user will have to upload a selfie every hour. This will help to know where the patient was kept in quarantine and from where he has uploaded the selfie.
  7. China’s central bank People’s Bank of China, or PBC, has increased its stake in HDFC Ltd, a lender for property in India, by more than one percent. In a briefing to the stock exchanges, HDFC said that on March 31 this year, the stake of Central Bank of China reached 1.01 percent with 1,74,92,909 shares.
  8. A team of researchers from IIT Bombay has developed a digital stethoscope (digital niche) that can hear and record the beats of any person from a distance, meaning that it will no longer be necessary to place a stethoscope from the chest of patients. It is believed that the use of this device will reduce the risk of infection from corona infected patients to health workers. This team of researchers running a startup named ‘Ayudavis’ has sent 1,000 such stethoscopes to various hospitals and healthcare centers across the country. This device has been developed with the help of doctors of Reliance and PD Hinduja Hospital.
  9. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has successfully developed a dual-layer Khadi mask and has received orders to supply these masks in large quantities. With this success, KVIC has recently received an order to supply 7.5 lakh Khadi masks to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. These reusable cotton masks will be 7 inches long and 9 inches wide, have three creases and four straps at the corners to tie them.
  10. The Government of India has established 586 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals. The hospitals have the capacity to accommodate more than 1 lakh isolation beds. The Government of India has taken preliminary action to identify COVID-19 hotspots in India. Apart from isolation beds, around 11,500 ICU beds have also been installed.
  11. Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan attended a virtual meeting of G-20 Exceptional Energy Ministers on 10 April 2020. The meeting was called by Saudi Arabia and was chaired by the Saudi Arabian Energy Minister. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan attended the meeting of Energy Ministers of G-20 countries. On this occasion, he said that India will remain a major center of energy consumption even during this global crisis. The meeting discussed ways and means to ensure stable energy markets amid demand shortages and production surpluses. Arab, Russia, America, etc. have agreed to cut global oil supply to stabilize the declining prices of mineral oil. In this meeting, the current global supply of crude oil will be cut by 10% under an agreement between the countries of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) as well as other informal members of the group (OPEC +). Also, the OPEC organization has demanded other countries of the world to cut their oil production by 5%.
  12. Physicians of Indian origin around the world have joined hands to combat the coronavirus under the campaign under the banner of ‘Global Indian Physician Kovid-19 Collaborative’. More than one lakh people have died in 185 countries since Kovid-19. The objective of this campaign is to strategize for the prevention of Kovid-19. This includes vaccination, new clinical investigations, developed life-saving systems, early detection of infection, strategy for antiviral therapy, plasma therapy, etc.
