  1. The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has launched a web portal for star rating of coal mines, to promote green, safe and sustainable mining traditions with the help of technology. The web portal for star rating of coal mines enables self-rating of coal mines operating across India, their validation by Coal Controller Organization (CCO), next evaluation and finally allocation of star rating. Also, an official certificate will be given by the Coal Controller Organization stating all the mines as their star rating and special reporting year. The star rating policy for coal mines in India will be laid down as follows: –
  • Mines with scores ranging from 91 to 100% will be given 5 stars.
  • Mines with scores ranging from 81 to 90% will be given 4 stars
  • ranging from 71 to 80%. Mines with scores will be given 3 stars
  • Mines with a score ranging from 61 to 70% will be given 2 stars.
  • Mines with scores ranging from 41 to 60% will be given 1 star. Mines scoring
  • from 0 to 40% will not get any star
  • for coal mines in India by the Ministry of Coal. A star rating policy has been prepared for. In this policy, the assessment 50 standards (for open mines) and 47 evaluation parameters (for underground mines) were set under 7 modules.
  1. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats out of 70 this time i.e. 88% of the seats in the Delhi Assembly elections. Last time, AAP won 67 seats i.e. 96% seats. Kejriwal has become the first leader of the country to win 88% seats twice in a row. BJP got 8 seats this time, 5 more than last time. Congress did not open its account again.
  2. A joint military exercise ‘Invincible Warrior’ will be organized between India and the United Kingdom from 13 February. The exercise has been organized since 2005. This is the fifth version of this practice. The exercise will be held in Salisbury Plains, United Kingdom (UK). Salisbury Plains is located in the Chalk Plateau. It is known for its archeological monument called Stonehenge. Since 2004, a joint naval exercise called ‘Konkan Exercise’ is being organized between India and the United Kingdom. Whereas Indra Dhanush practice is being conducted between the two countries since 2006. It is a joint aerial practice.
  3. The Central Government has decided to rename the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad as Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM). The government has decided to rename the institute on the strength of the vision and contribution of the late Shri Arun Jaitley to establish synergy between the dreams and aspirations of this institution in the future. Arun Jaitley was the former Union Finance Minister of India. The National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad was established in 1993.

According to a mathematical model for the expected global spread of coronavirus developed by researchers at Humboldt University in Germany and the Robert Koch Institute, India ranks 17th on the list of countries with a risk of coronavirus (nCoV) originating in Wuhan, China. The top 5 countries at risk of coronavirus cases include Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United States of America (United States).
  5. The Second BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise -2020 (BIMSTEC DMEx-2020) is being organized by Bhubaneswar, Odisha by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The exercise is being conducted between 11 February 2020 to 13 February 2020. In this exercise, existing emergency procedures will be tested for disasters during floods, earthquakes, and storms. In this exercise, emphasis will also be laid on the restoration of heritage sites damaged due to disasters. Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Nepal are participating in this exercise. Two BIMSTEC countries Thailand and Bhutan are not participating in this exercise this time. Theme: A Cultural Heritage Site that suffers severe damage in the Earthquake and Flooding or Storm
  6. The newly formed 28th district of Chhattisgarh, Gourela-Pendra-Marwahi, has come into existence. It was formally launched in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Assembly Speaker Charan Das Mahant, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. Shikha Rajput Tiwari has been posted as the first Collector and Parihar SP of this district. On August 15, 2019, Chief Minister Baghel announced the creation of the Gourela-Pendra-Marwahi district.
  7. Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal launched the ‘Reading Mission – Haryana’ to enhance reading habits among the students. The mission has been launched based on the Central Government’s “Reading Mission-2022” and aims to address the lost reputation of books.
  8. The sixth edition of the massive industrial exhibition ‘Engiexpo 2020’ will be held in Vadodara, Gujarat from 15 to 17 February. The Federation of Small Scale Industries (FSSI) will organize this three-day mega exhibition to promote ‘Made in India’ products. The exhibition will house more than 10,000 industrial products in more than 300 stalls. Several Uzbekistan companies are also participating in this exhibition.
  9. Jerusalem-Mumbai Festival will be held in Mumbai from February 15, 2020. The festival aims to strengthen cultural ties between India and Israel. The idea was presented during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Israel in July 2019. This will promote cultural exchange between the two countries.
  10. The Department of Public Enterprises under the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries submitted the “Survey of Public Enterprises”. According to this report, the net profit of public enterprises increased by 15.5% over the previous year. BSNL, Air India and MTNL were the biggest losers in 2018-19. These companies have been incurring losses continuously for the last three years. According to this survey “ONGC, NTPC and Indian Oil Corporation” were the highest profit-making public sector companies. The income from Central Public Enterprises in 2018-19 was Rs 20 lakh crore. Whereas last year, this income was Rs 20 lakh crore. There are a total of 348 Central Public Sector Enterprises in the country. Of these, 249 are operational, while 13 enterprises are being shut down or liquidated. While 86 enterprises are being developed.
  11. Indian professional hockey player Lalremsiyami (19) from Mizoram was voted the best FIH (International Hockey Federation) Women’s Rising Star of the year 2019. At the same time, Indian team midfielder Vivek Sagar Prasad (19) was selected as the best FIH Men’s Rising Star of the year 2019.

  14. Globally, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on 11 February. This day is celebrated to mark the important role of women and girls in science and technology. In December 2015, a proposal was adopted by the United Nations to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11 February. This day was first celebrated in 2016.   15. The US approved to sell the integrated air defense weapon system to India, costing approximately $ 1.86 billion. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the creation of a joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra and Ford Motor and the transfer of Ford India’s automotive business joint venture. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) and Ford Motor Company in the proposed combination (FMC) to form a joint venture between Ardor Automotive Private Limited and Ford Indi Education Pvt Ltd (Faipiel) in addition to the automotive business (blissfully position powertrain business) went envisaged to be transferred to the joint venture.
  17. The government is implementing the Road Needs Scheme and Road Connectivity Project in Left Wing Extremism affected areas. He said that the construction of 54 roads of one thousand 988 km length in Chhattisgarh has been approved which is 27 percent of the total sanctioned project for the Left-Wing Extremist States. Shri Reddy told the House that under the road connectivity project approved in December 2016, it is proposed to construct a road of about five thousand four hundred kilometers. Out of this, eight hundred and 91 km of roads are to be built for Chhattisgarh.
