  1. The solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is the largest solar energy project in Asia. With this 750 MW, solar plant, not only Madhya Pradesh but Delhi’s metro will get energy. Three solar units of 250 MW are located inside this solar park (total area 1500 ha). Each unit is set up on 500 hectares of land. The solar park has been developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL). This solar power project has a capacity of 750 MW. It has three units of 250-250 MW. 24 percent of the power of this project will be given to Delhi Metro.
  2. The Center for Product Design and Manufacturing of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has developed an eye-popping computer that will be useful for physically and mentally challenged people. This computer is specially designed for people who are unable to control their organs and are not able to speak. This computer has been attached to the robotic arm-arm, through which such people can do many things independently only through the pupils of the eyes. This robotic arm was tested at students suffering from cerebral palsy-cerebral pulses at Vidya Sagar Institute, Chennai. This robotic arm can be used for e-learning, automated and aeronautical applications.

The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has launched the self-sufficient Skilled Employees-Employer Mapping-Aseem Portal to help skilled people find livelihood opportunities. This portal will record the detailed information of the employees according to the demand of the region and local industries and will be a bridge between the demand and supply of skilled workforce. The employer will have access to a skilled workforce from this portal and can plan to hire them.
  4. The Indian Army stationed in Lebanon under the United Nations (UN) Peace Mission has won the first prize for its remarkable contribution to environmental protection. It was announced by Major General Stefano del Cole, the head of the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) in Lebanon. The work of Indian jawans deployed in Lebanon has been highly appreciated. Indian soldiers carried out various tasks such as plantation to waste disposal, plastic recycling, and greenhouse construction for the betterment of the environment during the UN mission. This year’s Environment Award has been given to a total of seven teams, of which the Indian team topped. The announcement of starting the annual award for environmental protection was made in December last year.

The International Olympic Committee (international Olympic Committee-IOC) has announced that its new headquarters in Lausanne has been awarded the European 2020 US Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership Award. The report presents the complexities of cancer-related challenges facing ten countries in the Asia-Pacific region – Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippine, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. India is ranked eighth in this report. In the field of cancer prevention preparations in the region, India has scored 51.5 out of 100 and is in eighth place. India’s score is less than the regional average of 66.5, while Australia (92.4), South Korea (83.4), and Malaysia (80.

The global economy is expected to decline by 5.2% in 2020, given the increasing incidence of Coronavirus infection and the economic prospects of almost all countries of the world are looking bleak. It has been said in a report. Dun & Broadstreet’s ‘Countries Risk and Global Scenario Report’ states that the broader global landscape is hazy and that the global economy will not hit the Covid-19 level before 2022. 132 countries are included in this report. “Dun & Broadstreet estimates that the global economy will decline by 5.2 percent in 2020,” the report said.   8. The tenure of Union Bank of India Managing Director and CEO Rajkiran Rai has been extended for two years because of its ongoing merger process with Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank.   17. China launched the communication satellite “APSTAR-6D” from Launchpad 3 of the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. CAST- China Academy of Space Technology (a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation) has developed the commercial satellite ‘APSTAR-6D’.   19. Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Technology (IITH) has tied up with a multinational technology company, NVIDIA to establish India’s first “NVIDIA AI Technology Center” (NVAITC). This center has been set up to speed up research on Artificial Intelligence and this commercial adoption. The projects include implementing AI-based solutions to improve crop yields and collaborate for safer transportation systems using AI algorithms and better efforts to manage traffic. The agreement covers agriculture, smart cities, and language. AI focuses on improving research in aspects of understanding. NVAITC will accelerate research for 220 faculty at IITH, already one of India’s leading research institutes. It will be based on strong AI capabilities built by IITs, including the country’s first BTech program in AI.
