  1. The Enforcement Directorate recently seized 78 crore of movable and immovable assets of Chanda Kochhar and her family, former MD, and CEO of ICICI Bank, in the case of ICICI Bank sanctioning a loan of Rs 1,875 crore to Videocon Group.
  2. The Supreme Court stayed the order of “NCLAT – National Company Law Appellate Tribunal” to reinstate Cyrus Mistry as acting president of Tata Sons. The court also issued a notice to Mistry.
  3. Census -2021 will be started this year April-2020. The 2021 census will be done through a mobile phone application. This census will be completed by 30 September 2020. The current Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India is “Vivek Joshi”. The Registrar General and Census Commissioner said in a notification that census officers have been instructed to ask “31 questions” to prepare a list of houses and gather information from each family during the enumeration of houses.
  4. Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched a Rs 6,318 crore “Amma Vodi” scheme for mothers below the poverty line to educate their children. The state will provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per year to poor mothers and parents of school-going children. It is one of the 9 flagship programs of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. These programs are called Navratnalu. The benefit of this scheme will be given to school students from class 1 to 12, this will include all private and government schools. For this, parents or mothers of children have to ensure 75% attendance of children in school.
  5. India’s second-largest IT company Infosys reported a profit of Rs 4,466 crore in the October-December quarter. Infosys has a revenue of Rs 23,092 crore. The company has raised its revenue outlook to 11-11.5% for the current financial year.

  20. State Bank of India has released its report ‘Ecowrap’ on GDP growth. The ‘Ecowrap’ report released by SBI’s Department of Economic Research has lowered India’s growth forecast for FY 2020 to 4.6%. The report also stated that agriculture and allied sectors are projected to grow by 2.8% in the year 2020, while the industry is projected to grow by 2.5%. Apart from this, 6.9% growth has been estimated for the services sector in FY 2020.

India is the fourth largest oil refiner country in the world. India’s oil refining capacity will be 8 million barrels per day by 2025.
