  16. The Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 after long deliberations and division of votes. Three hundred eleven members voted in favor of the bill and 80 in the opposition. The bill provides for citizenship for Hindus, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists, and Christians from India by the end of 2014 due to harassment from countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. However, some tribal areas included in the Sixth Schedule and areas under the Inner Line Permit System in the North Eastern States have been kept out of the purview of the Bill. The Bill amends the Citizenship Act 1955, the Passports Act 1920 and the Foreign Citizens Act 1946.
  17. Amidst the trade war, China has prepared to give a big blow to America. It has decided to remove western technology and its associated computer-equipment from the country. According to the Financial Times report, the Communist government has ordered all government and public offices to remove foreign computers, their devices (hardware) and software from their homes in the coming three years.   28. The US retail giant Walmart has decided to train 50,000 entrepreneurs in the “micro, small and medium enterprises” (MSME) sector. It aims to open 25 institute hubs in India in the next five years, in which MSME sector entrepreneurs will be trained. These institutions will be opened across the country under the “Walmart Aggregate Supplier Development Program”. Walmart has partnered with a local NGO “Swasti” to start these institutions, which will receive academic support from local universities.
  29. The Central Government has clarified that under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, loans worth Rs 10 lakh crore have been given so far. 70% of the beneficiaries of Mudra Yojana are women. Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana was launched in 2015 to provide a loan of Rs 10 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm micro / small scale industries. These loans are provided by Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Small Finance Banks, Cooperative Banks, MFI and NBFC. Three types of loans are provided under this scheme – Shishu: between Rs 50,000 and Kishor: between Rs 50,000 and Rs 5 lakh, Tarun: between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh.
