  1. According to data from the World Steel Association, India has become the second-largest steel producer of crude steel after China, replacing Japan. India’s crude steel production in 2019 was 111.2 MT, compared to 109.3 MT in 2018, an increase of 1.7 percent this year. China remains at number one in 2019 with 996.3 million tonnes. The United States and Russia rank fourth and fifth respectively.
  2. The Government of Tripura has decided to organize a two-day Hornbill Festival on February 8, 2020, for the first time. Although Hornbill Festival is an important festival in Nagaland, it is held in Nagaland in December. Hornbill will be organized by Tripura for the conservation of birds named Hornbill and to promote livelihood through tourism. Apart from this, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur have also started celebrating the Hornbill festival.
  3. US President Donald Trump’s visit to Ahmedabad has been sealed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-Trump will visit Ahmedabad from February 24 to 27. However, the date has not been decided yet. They will join the “Chem Chom Trump” program here. The event will take place at the newly constructed Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will involve around one lakh people. During the visit to the US in September 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a ‘Howdy Modi’ program in Houston. Trump was involved in this. ‘Chem Chom Trump’ is designed on the same lines. Santosh Gangwar, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labor and Employment, told in Rajya Sabha (Rajyasabha) that the unemployment level is 6.1 percent, according to the data being collected through a new and comprehensive survey of employment in the country. The change in the survey process was followed by a new unemployment survey 2017-18 on an annual basis by the Ministry of Statistics. According to the data of the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) conducted under it, the labor force in India is 36.9 percent and the unemployment rate is 6.1 percent.
  5. American Greek economist and World Bank chief economist (WB) Pinelopy Kojianou Goldberg (57 years) announced his resignation. She will step down from her post on March 1, 2020, and teach at Yale University in Connecticut, United States (US). World Bank research director Arat Cray will be interim chief economist until the appointment of a new permanent chief economist.
  6. Jindal South West (JSW) Steel has appointed Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant as its brand ambassador. Pant will help promote JSW’s steel products, which include a three-year colouron + color-coated sheets and JSW Neosteel TMT bars.
  7. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will organize Financial Literacy Week 2020 from 10 February to 14 February 2020. The theme of Financial Literacy Week 2020 is Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This year the central bank of India is focusing on micro, small and medium enterprises. The objective of Financial Literacy Week 2020 is to give people formalities, collateral-free loans, exemption of receipts, Rehabilitation and timely repayment of stressed units have to be made aware. RBI has advised banks to disseminate information and create awareness among their customers and the general public. A centralized mass media campaign will also be conducted by the RBI during February 2020 to disseminate the necessary financial awareness message to MSME entrepreneurs. Financial Literacy Week (FLW) is being celebrated every year since 2016 by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to spread the message of financial education on a particular topic across the country.
  8. E-commerce company Flipkart has closed the fashion e-commerce portal “Jabong”. “Jabong” customers will be referred to Flipkart’s second fashion e-commerce website “Myntra”. Walmart-owned Flipkart acquired “Jabong” four years ago for $ 70 million. The number of “Jabong” customers has decreased over the years.

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has approved 39 Mega Food Parks and 298 Integrated Cold Chain Projects in India, to fill the gaps in the value chain and establish cold chain grids. Food park and cold chain projects have been approved under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).
  10. The country’s first Zoo Interpretation Center has been set up at Pradyumna Park Zoological Museum in Rajkot, Gujarat. Statues of the size of animals, birds, and humans have been made here. Here an attempt has been made to explain the diversity of the living world under one roof through photo-sculpture-paintings. The center, built at 125 crore rupees, is the first center of its kind in the country.
  11. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Babul Supriyo has said that the government has launched the National Clean Air Program to tackle the problem of pollution across the country. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, he said that the objective of this program is to reduce the amount of pollution of PM 10 and PM 2 decimal five from thirty to twenty percent by the year 2024. Supriyo said that under this program, each city with a population of fewer than 5 lakhs has been allocated ten lakhs of rupees and each city with a population of five to ten lakhs has been allocated twenty lakh rupees. More than a hundred cities have been identified for this program.
  12. On the third day of the ongoing Defense Exhibition 2020 in Lucknow, 23 MoUs were signed between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and various companies. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present in this gathering named Bandhan. The Chief Minister said that the signatures on 23 MoUs will attract investment of fifty thousand crores. The ongoing 11th Defense India Expo -2020 in Lucknow has become a major ‘gateway’ for investment in the defense sector in India. There are a total of 200 investment agreements in this event. This is the first time such agreements have been signed at the Defense Expo.
  13. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in New Delhi today on a five-day visit to India. Shri Rajapaksa was received by Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Minister of State for Human Resource Development at the airport. A high-level delegation of several Sri Lankan ministries has also accompanied Mr. Rajapaksha. This is Mr. Rajapaksa’s first foreign visit since taking over as Prime Minister.
  14. Britain has appointed its envoy to the United Nations, Karen Pearce, as its next ambassador to the United States. The current British ambassador to the US, Kim Darroch, gave up the resignation letter following a controversial comment on the US President last year.
  15. The Coast Guard administration of Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu arrested 7 youths engaged in suspicious activities in the coastal areas. Various types of explosives were recovered from them. The Coast Guard and the Maritime Police are conducting practice sessions at all 18 security posts in and around Nagapattinam known as “Sagar Kavach”. The objective of this exercise is to protect people living in coastal areas.
  16. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani has said that the objective of “nutrition campaign” is to end malnutrition in a phased manner in the country. Replying to supplementary questions in the Lok Sabha, he said that the objective of this campaign is to reduce the percentage of malnutrition among children in the age group of 6 years to 25% from the current 38% by 2022.
  17. Central Asia Business Council was launched in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and addressed by Dr. S. Jaishankar, Foreign Minister of India. This was the first time that the trading chambers of all five Central Asian states i.e. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan were brought together by India to pursue trade and investment partnerships. The Central Asia Business Council is a common platform for the exchange of ideas and the transformation of goodwill into practical outcomes and to form the India-Central Asia Development Group. India and Central Asia Development Group will work to promote trade by assessing the viability of the air corridor between India and Central Asia. These sectors include pharmaceuticals, agro-processing, energy, urban infrastructure, and transportation,

He will report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and join Microsoft’s senior leadership team. “Wenner” joined LinkedIn as CEO in 2008 and led the stock through its initial public offering in 2011. Microsoft bought the company in 2016 for the US $ 26 billion.

It is part of India’s first Biosphere Reserve (Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve) announced in the year 1986.

He was noted for his physical commitment to roles and training to perform fully assigned roles, such as playing the role of a boxer in the Champion, and riding and shooting horses in the Western Gunfight in 1957.
  24. In Pakistan, Parliament has passed a resolution to hang the culprits in the open for committing sexual offenses with children. The proposal was brought to Nowshera in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2018 citing the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl.
