  1. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), in a landmark initiative, inaugurated the first silk processing plant at Surendranagar in Gujarat, significantly reducing the production cost of silk yarn as well as raw materials for Gujarati patola saris at the local level This will help in increasing the availability and sale of goods. The plant has been set up by a Khadi Institute at Rs 75 lakhs, with KVIC contributing Rs 60 lakhs. The unit employs 90 local women, 70 of whom are from the Muslim community. Gujarat’s trademark sari ‘Patola’ is considered to be very expensive and is worn only by women from royal and wealthy families. The reason is that its raw material silk yarn is purchased from Karnataka or West Bengal, where the silk processing units (units) are located. Due to this, the cost of the fabric increases manifold.
  2. All-rounder Irfan Pathan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Irfan made his Test debut against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in 2003. Irfan scored 1105 runs in 29 Tests and took 100 wickets. In addition to scoring 1544 runs in 120 ODIs, he took 173 wickets. Irfan scored 172 runs in 24 Twenty-Twenty International matches and took 28 wickets. He was part of the Indian team that won the Twenty-Twenty World Cup title in 2007 and was named Man of the Match in the final match against Pakistan. Pathan was the second bowler from India to take a hat-trick in Test cricket. Before him, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh achieved this feat in the 2001 Kolkata Test against Australia. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is the third Indian to take a hat-trick. Except for Irfan Pathan, no such bowler has ever been in the history of Test cricket. Those who have done the trick of taking hat-trick wickets in the first over of the first innings of any Test match. Irfan Pathan did such a great job against Pakistan and till now this record is only recorded in his name.
  3. One of its kind rehabilitation center for freshwater turtles is to be inaugurated in Bhagalpur Forest Division, Bihar in January 2020. Spread over half a hectare, the center will be able to shelter 500 turtles at one go. The center will also treat tortoises that are sick, seriously injured or trafficked, and will then be safely returned to their natural habitat.
  4. Export-Import (Exim) Bank, India’s premier export finance institution, has given a $ 75 million (over Rs 500 crore) line of credit to Cuba to finance a 75 MW (MW) photovoltaic solar park.

To provide free medical care to the poor, the Chief Minister (Chief Minister) of Andhra Pradesh (AP), Yeduguri Sandipti Jaganmohan Reddy has inaugurated the ‘YSR Arogyasri Yojana’ at Eluru in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The scheme will be extended to each district of the state from April 2020. The objective of the renovated healthcare scheme is to provide free medical care to people with an annual income of up to Rs 5 lakh and those eligible people will also be given Arogyasri cards. For this, the state government will distribute 1.42 crore cards with QR (Quick Response) code across the state. Free treatment will be provided to the person, whose treatment cost is more than Rs 1,000.
  6. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has made special arrangements for the toll-free voter helpline 1950 for the differently-abled people to register themselves. Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. Ranbir Singh said that because of the Delhi Assembly elections, it has taken a unique step to ensure maximum participation of the differently-abled. The voter assistance center number will be available in both Hindi and English languages. It will facilitate information, education, and communication-related to elections. To make the disabled persons more empowered, new features have also been introduced to register their grievances.
  7. Sucheta Satish, a 13-year-old Indian girl living in Dubai City, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been selected for the Global Child Prodigy Awards 2020. Sucheta can sing in 120 languages. He has been selected for this award for his amazing talent. The award ceremony was held at the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi. Sucheta’s name emerged on the world stage when she sang for over six hours continuously in 102 languages ​​at the Indian Consulate in Dubai two years ago. He is called Swara Kokila at his school in Dubai. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation and renowned musician AR Rahman are also among the sponsors of the Global Child Prodigy Award.

  10. India’s leading digital lending startup “RevFin” has joined hands with PNB MetLife India Insurance Company to provide “RevFin” customers with life insurance cover protection on their loans. This insurance covers loans up to ₹ 3 lakh for 3 years.
  11. CSC e-Governance Services India Limited to sell FASTags to Paytm Payments Bank Ltd. (PPBL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Through this MoU, FASTags will be sold through a last-mile network of 3.6 lakh CSCs (Common Service Centers). This will help in increasing the Government’s approach for cashless and smooth transit on the country’s toll plazas. CSC will integrate its platform with PPBL to conduct transactions. Online sales training will be imparted to village-level entrepreneurs who are cashless and paperless.

Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Planning Department, Andhra Pradesh, said that the Boston Consulting Group in its report suggested adopting a balanced and inclusive strategy for the development of all regions of Andhra Pradesh. The report divided 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh into six regions. The group submitted its report to Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy yesterday. The Boston Consulting Group has also asked for special arrangements in government departments in other areas. The state government is planning to develop three cities for activities related to the capital.   15. On January 3, 2020, the Union Health Ministry removed 171 hospitals from the Ayushman Bharat scheme on charges of fraud (de-impanel). The Health Ministry has also imposed a fine of Rs 4.5 crore on them. An FIR has also been registered in 6 hospitals in Uttarakhand and Jharkhand. Anti-fraud units have found that many private hospitals are producing fake e-cards, while this is done by the state health agency.   17. The Ministry of External Affairs has announced the establishment of the New Emerging and Strategic Technology (NEST) Division. This division will work to increase investment coordination with states in the country as well as abroad. This will help to collaborate with foreign partners in the field of 5G and artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Division will also be responsible for matters which include multilateral discussion forums like the United Nations, G20. This will help protect the interests of India as such forums govern the rules of access to such technologies.
  18. China has selected Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) as Cargo Transhipment Center (TEC). So now China’s goods will reach the countries of Central Asia via IGI. The special aircraft arrived at the IGI from Beijing on Friday with the first consignment of cargo. From here, clothing and electronic goods will be shipped to other countries of Central Asia. Earlier, Bangladesh also made IGI airports center.

By this, drinking water is being saved by irrigating the plants.
  22. China has announced that the country’s giant paddlefish, often referred to as the ‘Panda of the Yangtze River’, has become extinct. Paddlefish with the scientific name Psephurus gladius that can grow up to 22 feet (7 m) went extinct between 2005 and 2010, according to scientists at the Yangtze River Fisheries Research Institute (YRFRI).
