  1. India and Pakistan shared the list of their nuclear institutions. This sequence has been going on for the last 29 years. The two countries share this list under an agreement not to attack each other’s nuclear institutions and facilities. This process was completed simultaneously through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad. The agreement was signed between India and Pakistan on 31 December 1988. It was implemented on 27 January 1991 and the first list was shared on 1 January 1992. Since then, every year on January 1, both countries share this list. India and Pakistan also have agreement on nuclear threat, which was extended for five years in 2017. This agreement was done to reduce the risk of accidents involving nuclear weapons. Under this agreement, the two countries will inform each other on the occurrence of nuclear weapons in their area. Indo-Pak has also submitted a list of civilians and fishermen in each other’s jails. An agreement was signed between the two countries in 2008 for this. Under this, both countries share information about each other’s citizens who are locked up on January 1 and July 1 every year.
  2. The Reserve Bank of India has released a mobile app named Money to help the visually impaired. Through this app, the rupee will be identified. Money means Mobile Aided Note Identifier. RBI Governor Shakti Kant Das released it in Mumbai. The Money app will be available on both Android and iOS operating systems. Through this app, you can recognize the sighted notes. After downloading this app, it will also work without the internet. Through this, users can scan notes using the camera. The app will recognize the note and speak it in Hindi and English.
  3. The Indian Space Research Organization-ISRO will set up a new satellite launch center in the Tutukudi district of Tamil Nadu, which will be used to launch small satellites. Referring to future programs of Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Sivan said that the government has also approved the Chandrayaan-3 mission to be sent to the moon. It will be equipped with rover and lander systems. On the progress towards the launch of India’s first manned mission to space – Gaganyaan, Mr. Sivan said that the process of selection of astronauts has been completed and the four Indian Air Force officers selected for this will be trained for the third week of January. I will leave for Russia. Gaganyaan is scheduled to be launched in 2022.
  4. The Asian Lions Census will be conducted by the Wildlife Institute of India in May 2020. About 10,000 cameras will be used by the Wildlife Institute of India for this census. In the 2015 census, 523 Asiatic lions were found in Gujarat, it is expected that now the population of these Asiatic lions is more than 1000. The technique of the National Tiger Conservation Authority will be used for this census. For this, the census area will be divided into a 3 km grid. The census authority will collect evidence of Sharon’s hair, nail teeth, etc. 1000 to 2000 officers will work in this work. IUCN’s Red List lists the Asiatic lion in the list of “threatened” creatures. Asiatic lions in India are mainly found in Gujarat.
  5. The fourth installment will be provided under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Prime Minister Modi will present the ‘Krishi Karmanya’ award to three fishermen and 28 progressive fishermen. Under this scheme, farmers will be given Rs 6000 per year, this amount will be Rs 500 per month. This amount of Rs 6000 will be directly transferred to the farmers’ accounts in three installments of 2000-2000 thousand.
  6. Pacific nation Palau has become the first country to ban the use of sun cream. This ban on sun cream has been imposed in Palau, famous among tourists, due to the hazardous chemical used in it. A country with a population of 20,000 had already announced a ban on creams made of oxybenzone and octanoate chemicals. Palau is known for its maritime beauty. Its islands surrounded by coral reefs are home to a wide variety of fauna.
  7. The Government of India signed an MoU with Flipkart for the sale of products made by women self-help groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) on the e-commerce platform. DAY-NULM consists of 44 lakh women across the country, whose aim is to make women financially independent.
  8. Senior IPS officer Arun Kumar Sinha was given a one-year service extension as Director of Special Protection Group (SPG). This information was given in an order of the Ministry of Personnel. Security of the Prime Minister and former Prime Ministers is the responsibility of the SPG.
  9. Indian Railways has marginally increased passenger fare rates across its entire network, but there has been no increase in the fares of suburban trains. The fare for non-air-conditioned and non-suburban trains has been increased by one paisa per kilometer. The fare for non-air-conditioned mail and express trains has been increased by two paise per km and air-conditioned class fares by four paise per km.
  10. The Government of Gujarat has formed the All India Gujarati Samaj Samhil Samiti. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will be the chief patron of this committee while the Minister for Overseas Gujarati Affairs will be the chairman of the committee. The purpose of this committee is to involve outside Gujaratis in the development process of the state. The committee will involve migrant Gujaratis in various programs of the state government so that they can support the Gujarat government from their respective states during natural calamities. The Government of Gujarat itself is organizing several programs including Run Utsav, International Kite Festival, Satpura Festival. The objective of these programs is to harness the talent, knowledge and financial resources of Gujarati society living in India and bring them under one umbrella.
  11. Indian captain Virat Kohli has been included in all three Tests, ODIs and T20 teams of the decade by ESPN Cricinfo, while World Cup-winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been included in the ODI and T20 teams. Apart from this, Cricinfo has also included captain Virat and Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in his Test XI of the decade. These teams have been selected by the 23-member panel of Cricinfo. In the ODI team of the decade, three Indians Virat, opener Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper and batsman Dhoni have been included while Virat, Dhoni and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the T20 team of the decade. At the same time, India’s most experienced batsman Mithali Raj and fast bowler Jhulan Goswami have been included in the women’s team of the decade.
  12. Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav of the Indian Railway Electrical Engineering Service (IRSEE, 1980 batch) took over as the Chairman of the Railway Board on 1 January 2020. His reappointment has been done at the same level as the ex-officio Chief Secretary of the Government of India. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the reappointment of Mr. Vinod Kumar Yadav for one year (effective January 1, 2020) as Chairman of the Railway Board.
  13. Harjit Kaur Joshi has been appointed as the full-time Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Privatization-bound Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). With this appointment, she also became the 13th CMD and the first female CMD of SCI and will serve till her retirement on 31 May 2022 or until further orders. Joshi replaces Captain Anoop Kumar Sharma who has served as CMD for the last three years.
  14. The Supreme Court (SC) and various High Courts (HC) have appointed Rohan Shah as the representative and governor of India on the board of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) for 3 years. The ERIA board meets once every 6 months in Jakarta (Indonesia) and Japan.
  15. Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have developed a material that can generate electricity from both stagnant and flowing water. According to research published in the journal ‘ACS Applied Nanomaterials’, energy sources can be decentralized by employing these new methods of producing energy at small levels in the home environment. Researchers used a nanoscale phenomenon known as the “electrokinetic streaming potential” to generate energy from small-scale flowing water. He also used a second procedure, called “contrasting interfacial activities”. Various semiconductor materials were used to generate electricity from stagnant water.
  16. The Chief Minister of Odisha has launched an e-certificate portal and ePAUTI app. The e-certificate is a part of the 5T model of governance by the Project Revenue and Disaster Management Department. According to the CM, no fee will be charged for certificates specifying these services as the rights of the people. Using the ePAUTI app, people can pay land revenue online with the help of their smartphone without visiting the government office.
  17. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Indian Space Research Organization – ISRO is planning to launch a satellite named Aditya to study the Sun. Shri Modi said that India has moved ahead in the field of astronomy and ISRO has initiated many important initiatives in this field. The Prime Minister said that India has many powerful telescopes, including a giant meter wave telescope near Pune and powerful telescopes located at Kodaikanal, Udgamangala, Gurshikhar, and Hanalei Ladakh.
  18. China has introduced the world’s first smart and high-speed train, which is driverless, at Rs 56,496 crore. Running at a speed of 350 km, this train has all the features associated with artificial intelligence, including 5G signal, wireless charging, and smart lighting. The 174 km journey between Beijing to Zhangjiaqou completed the train in 10 minutes with 47 stops. No operator is hired to run it. There will be only one person on board the driver who will only monitor the emergency. Robots will also do maintenance and repair work of this train.
