  1. Lieutenant General “Manoj Mukund Narwane” has become the new Chief of the Indian Army. On 31 December 2019, he will replace General “Bipin Rawat”. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat received the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff – CDS. has been appointed. He will serve as the Principal Advisor to the Government on Military Affairs and will focus on better coordination between the Army, Air Force, and Navy. General Rawat is retiring from the post of Army President but under the amended rule, he will continue as Chief of Defense Staff till the age of 65 years. In a recent landmark decision, the cabinet created the post of Chief of Defense Staff in the rank of Four-Star General, which would be provided with salaries and facilities at par with the Chief of Army Staff. Cds He will also head the Department of Military Affairs, Ministry of Defense. Apart from being the chairman of this department, C.D.S. There will also be the permanent Chairman of the Staff Committee of Military Chiefs. He will serve as the Principal Military Advisor to the Ministry of Defense in all matters of the three armies. Cds Efforts will be made to improve the functioning of the three armies to increase the combat capability of the armed forces while reducing expenditure.

  3. The Central Government has recently made a provision to increase the retirement age of Chiefs of Armed Forces to 65 years. If one of the three armies is appointed the Chief of Defense Staff, he will retire at the age of 65.
  4. Somesh Kumar, Commissioner of Excise Department in Telangana has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of the state. He will succeed Dr. Shailendra Kumar Joshi, whose term is coming to an end. Chief Minister K.K. Chandrasekhar Rao has signed the document appointing the new Chief Secretary. Somesh Kumar is a 1989 batch IAS officer and will have a tenure as Chief Secretary till 2023.
  5. So far, more than one crore fasts have been issued for vehicles. Daily more than one lakh vehicle is being issued. The fast facilitates travel for travelers who pass through the toll plaza on the national highway. With the introduction of electronic toll collection through FASTAG from December 15, FASTAG sales have increased significantly. Daily transaction through Fastag in electronic toll collection has crossed Rs 52 crore. The government has recently included Bhima UPI App for payment to make fast recharge easy.
  6. The duration of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act-AFSPA (AFSPA) has been extended by another six months throughout the state of Nagaland. Under this act, the security forces get the right to search and arrest any person without giving any notice. The state has been declared a disturbed area. The Ministry of Home Affairs has said in a notification that in the opinion of the Central Government, there is a disturbing situation throughout Nagaland, which requires the presence of armed forces to help the civil administration there. Nagaland has been under the Armed Forces Privilege Act for the last nearly six decades.
  7. The famous 11 day long Dhanu Jatra will begin in Bargarh in West Odisha. It is considered to be the largest open theater in the world. Jatra is based on the mythology of Lord Krishna and his maternal uncle Kamsa. Nearly three thousand artists from Odisha and about a hundred cultural circles from neighboring states will participate in the festival. Dhanu Jatra was given National Festival status in November 2014 by the Department of Culture, Government of India.
  8. Railways have renamed Railway Protection Force (RPF) as Indian Railway Protection Force Service. RPF was conferred with organized Group A status. By this, the personnel of the force will get the same salary and allowances as the officers of other government cadres. The government will give ‘top priority’ in providing Non-Functional Upgradation (FFU) which will benefit IRPFS personnel.
  9. The Group of Ministers (GoM) has been formed to accelerate the revival plan of state-run telecom companies BSNL and MTNL. The Group of Ministers will accelerate and oversee the implementation of the Rs 69,000 crore revival plan for state-owned telecom companies BSNL and MTNL. The GoM includes Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, IT and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The government had approved a revival package of Rs 69,000 crore for BSNL & MTNL, including the merger of two loss-making firms, monetization of their assets and granting VRS to employees.
  10. The third Khelo India Yuva Khel is being held in Guwahati from January 10. Six and a half thousand players from 37 teams will participate in these games. Chief Executive Officer of Khelo India, Avinash Joshi said that for the first time lawn ball and cycling competition will be included in these sports.   12. The Finance Minister has announced the waiver of Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) fees for businesses with annual revenues of more than Rs 50 crore from January 1, 2020. Also, from January 1, 2020, merchants or customers will not be charged any additional fees for any digital transactions made using RuPay credit cards or UPI QR codes. Customers must transact with all shops, business establishments and companies with an annual turnover of Rs 50 crore or more to avail of this facility. Apart from this, the Revenue Department will also notify Rupees and UPI as the prescribed mode of payment for digital transactions without any Merchant Discount Rate (MDR). Merchant Discount Rate. Digital transaction fees that merchant banks pay. This fee is often charged by the customer. The decision is aimed at promoting domestic digital payment solutions such as Rupee and UPI as compared to Visa and MasterCard promoted by foreign companies.
  13. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen in Karnal on December 29, 2019, in this canteen, farmers and laborers will be provided food for Rs 10.   21. The Government of India has launched a “Central Equipment Identity Register” web portal to trace and block stolen mobile phones on December 30, 2019. This web portal will work under the Department of Telecommunications. Currently, the people of Delhi-NCR will get their benefits. Preparations are being made to spread it across the country gradually. It started in Mumbai as a pilot project in September. To take advantage of the portal “CEIR dot gov.in”, one must first report the police and block the lost or stolen number. After that, you will have to apply for giving a new SIM card to your mobile operator along with a copy of FIR and ID proof. After this, the registration form will have to be filled on the portal to get “IMEI” blocked.
  22. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the results of the Clean Survey League 2020 for the first and second quarters in New Delhi. Pune police in Maharashtra said that during the 202nd birth anniversary of the historic Koregaon battle, more than ten thousand security personnel would be deployed at Koregaon-Bhima in Shirpur taluka of the district to prevent any untoward incident.   24. Rabi has been sown in about 36 lakh hectare more land in the country as on the 27th of this month in the current Rabi season compared to the same period last year. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reported that so far this season rabi sowing has been done in five hundred and 71 lakh hectares as compared to 536 lakh hectares last year. In rabi producing states, rabi cultivation has taken place over a large area due to improvement in moisture in the fields due to rainfall. The ministry has said that wheat cultivation is 297 lakh hectares, while paddy is cultivated in about 14 lakh hectares. Pulses are cultivated in 140 lakh hectares. Similarly, the cultivation of coarse grains and oilseeds has increased.
  25. China, working on new cultural tours, has designed the world’s highest Pigtang Grand Concrete Tower Bridge to connect the two counties called Pingtang and Luodian. These two mountainous regions, located in southwest China’s Guizhou province, will now be accessed easily. Traffic has started on this 2135 meter long bridge. The 93-km Pingtang-Luodian Expressway connected to this bridge was also inaugurated. Due to the construction of the expressway and bridge, the time to cover the distance between the two areas has been reduced from two and a half hours to one hour. The bridge is built 332 meters upstream in the Kaodu River Valley.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has included Madagascar and Comoros in the Indian Ocean Region Division, which includes India’s maritime neighboring countries such as Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles. Earlier both these island nations were in the East and South African divisions of MEA. The recent move demonstrates the increasing strategic importance of the Indian Ocean islands inside the Indo-Pacific region. The Indian Ocean is the third largest sea in the world and contains about 20% of the water present on the surface of the Earth.   28. Minister of State for Civil Aviation (Independent Charge) launched two biometric-based projects Centralized Access Control System (CACS) and the ‘e-BCAS’ Project Training Module’. This multilevel security system incorporates the uniquely of airport entry permit (AEP) users, in addition to PIN-based identity verification through contactless smart card technology. The ‘e-BCAS’ project is envisaged to establish a “paperless office” under the e-Governance initiative of the Government of India. The ‘e-BCAS Project Training Module’ aims to transform the manual training process into a digital process. The purpose of the e-BCAS project is to make all activities in BCAS transparent, User-friendly and efficient. With this aim is to make the process of doing business with stakeholders easier.
  29. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman unveiled infrastructure projects worth one hundred and two lakh crore rupees. These projects will be completed in the next five years as part of the government’s efforts to boost spending in the infrastructure sector. Releasing the report of the Task Force constituted for National Infrastructure Pipeline- NIP for 2019-2025, Smt Sitaraman said that the Prime Minister in her speech on Independence Day had said to invest one hundred lakh crore rupees in the infrastructure sector, after which the workforce Was formed. He said that these projects have been identified in the areas of power, railways, urban, irrigation, education, and health.

  32. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has reported that exporters have been paid a refund of Rs 1,12,000 crore under the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST). According to CBIC, more than 83,000 exporters have benefited from these refunds. Government GST Under, it is trying to expedite the payment of refunds, especially to exporters.
