  1. The Asian Development Bank has approved a $ 3 million (About Rs 22 crore) grant to India from the Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund to support India’s fight against COVID-19. The grant is funded by the Japanese government. It will be used for thermal scanners, increased disease monitoring, and early detection, contact detection, and treatment. COVID-19 Active Response and Expenditure Support (CARES) program provide immediate public health measures as well as poor and economic health. Provides immediate support for social security measures for vulnerable, women, and backward groups. Earlier, on April 28, ADB raised 1% from CARES Fund. The US $ 5 billion was approved. The CARES program is funded through the Counter Cycle Support Facility through CPRO. The COVID-19 Epidemic Response Option (CPRO) was established to provide support for the epidemic response of member countries.
  2. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Pravind Jagannath jointly inaugurated the new building of the Supreme Court in Mauritius through video conference. The building is the first India-assisted infrastructure project within the Mauritius capital Port Louis to be inaugurated after the Covid epidemic. This historic project has been completed with grant assistance of US $ 28.12 million from the Government of India.

  4. America’s surveillance vehicle has left for Mars. This is the third Mars mission in the world in the last 11 days. Earlier, on 19 July, the UAE and on 23 July China left their respective missions to Mars. US space agency NASA launched its Mars mission from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. On 18 February 2021, it will land on the Jezero crater of Mars. This mission will last a year (687 days of Earth) from the time of Mars. A small helicopter will be flown to Mars for the first time under this mission. Preference has two devices – a 1000 kg rover and a small helicopter-like a 2 kg drone, which will remain in contact with the rover. The rover will use plutonium power, which will last about 10 years. It also has a 7-foot robotic arm, 19 cameras, and a drill machine, which will take photos, videos, and samples of the surface of Mars.

The British India Business Council (UKIBC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Industrial Extension Bureau (INDEXB), Department of Industry and Mining, and the Government of Gujarat. Through this, this major agency will focus on accelerating industrial development in the state. This collaborative partnership between UKIBC and the Government of Gujarat will help promote trade and industrial development in the state. It will also aim to enhance the business environment and strengthen cooperation with British businesses in Gujarat.

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a district-level panel consisting of District Magistrates, Chief Medical Officers, and Chief Development Officers to prepare an action plan to fight the COVID-19 epidemic more effectively. The government has also decided to strengthen and appropriately promote the telemedicine facility so that more and more people can avail of this facility in the state and that too from their home. In each district, there will be an integrated command and control center to carry out various coordination activities related to COVID 19 disease and its surveillance in the state. All district level officers have been included in this committee so that coordination work is not affected at the district level. The committee will also focus on the use of technology in the respective districts to communicate more effectively with people about issues related to the Covid-19 epidemic.
  7. The Guwahati Development Department Ministry has inaugurated the first manhole cleaning robot “BANDICOOT” to ensure minimum human participation for cleaning sewers. Guwahati is the first city in the entire northeast to get a sewer manhole cleaning robot. After Gurugram and Coimbatore, Guwahati is the third city in the country to purchase this innovative technology to clean manholes. An automatic sewer cleaning robot has been purchased by Guwahati Municipality. The BANDICOOT robot is also the first robot of its kind in the world developed under a Make in India initiative by a start-up India company called Genrobotics, funded by CSR of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

  9. Paytm Money, the investment and wealth management subsidiary of Paytm, has appointed Varun Sridhar as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. He will replace former MD and CEO Praveen Jadhav, who resigned from the startup due to differences with management of Paytm. Sridhar will report to Paytm President Amit Nayyar. Sridhar will lead the launch and development of equity brokerage services for the firm and will develop existing products around mutual funds, national pension system, and gold services, which the company provides.

Founder of SS Motivation, Sunil Yadav SS was awarded the “Karamveer Chakra Award” instituted as Global Fellowship Award by United Nations and International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) at ReXLIVE held at IIT Delhi. He contributed tirelessly to the society through his telegram channel “SS Motivation”, for which the award has been given. He talks about social issues and inspires people every day through his channel. The awards he won last year include Rashtriya Prerna, Iconic Personality of India, Incredible Indian Icon, and Humanitarian Excellence.
  11. The ‘Natesh Murthy’ stolen from India in the year 1998 has been handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India department after almost 22 years. It is originally a 10th-century Shiva idol of Ghateshwar Mahadev Temple located in Barauli, Rajasthan. It is a rare sandstone sculpture in Pratihara style with a height of about 4 feet. A beautiful depiction of Nandi is depicted behind its right foot. Ghateshwar temple is one of the temple groups of Barauli. Shiva’s Nataraja Swaroop is engraved in this temple. This temple resembles the Orissa temple style.

  13. Khadi face mask is gaining popularity all over the country due to its quality and affordable price. In the same sequence, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) received a prestigious purchase order from the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) for the supply of 1.80 lakh masks. According to KVIC, the IRCS mask will be made of 100 percent double-twist handcrafted cotton fabric in brown color with red piping. Specifically for the Indian Red Cross Society, KVIC has designed these double-layered cotton masks, consistent with the specimens provided by them. The mask will have the IRCS logo printed on the left and the Khadi India tag on the right. Mask supplies will begin next month.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the proposed acquisition of 49 percent of the total equity share capital of Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC) by Adani Power Limited (APL). APL is a public limited company and its shares are listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited. It is a part of the Adani Group, which is engaged in business operations of power generation, transmission and distribution in India, among other businesses. APL is mainly in the business of power generation. OPGC is a company incorporated in Odisha. It is a joint venture of the Government of Odisha, AES India Private Limited, and AES OPGC Holding, which acts as a state government company. OPGC does the business of electricity generation.
  15. In the backward districts, Bijapur has been ranked first on the test of the NITI Aayog on the path of development. This ranking has been released by the Commission for the work done during the period February-June, 2020. The commission’s delta ranking has been done in 112 aspirational districts based on the progress made in six developmental areas including health and nutrition and education during February-June this year. Apart from health and nutrition, education, agriculture, and water resources, financial inclusion, skill development, and infrastructural facilities are the basis for ranking. Bijapur is followed by Ri-Bhoi (Meghalaya) and Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh) at 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Mizoram Agriculture Minister C Lalarinsanga said that the Green Agri (Green-Agriculture) project aimed at catalyzing the sustainable transformation of agriculture without any compromise on the country’s food security and farmers’ income, was launched in Mizoram. The minister said that the project will be implemented in more than 30 villages of Dampa Tiger Reserve in Mamit district in West Mizoram and Thorantlong Wildlife Sanctuary in Lunglei district in the southern part of the state. Mizoram is one of the five states where a green-agriculture project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is being implemented. The remaining states are Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.

Financial assistance for High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) from the Government of India was handed over to the Government of Maldives in the form of a symbolic check of US $ 5.6 million. The check was handed over by the High Commissioner of India, Sunjay Sudhir, to Abdullah Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maldives. In this regard, the Maldives government has initiated nine community-based development projects.
  18. One of the oldest flying clubs in India, the Bombay Flying Club has become the first drone training school approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This virus can steal banking and other confidential information from over 300 emails, e-commerce, social media apps, including banking and financial apps.   22. A three-D image of Lord Rama’s image and a grand Ram Temple design in Ayodhya will be displayed on a giant board on August 5 in New York’s Times Square. On this day in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of Shri Ram Temple. The organizers have described it as a unique and historic event of its kind. The pictures shown in it will have Jai Shri Ram written in Hindi and English. Three-D images of the design of the temple will also be shown, pictures of Lord Rama and images of rock placed at the time of Bhoomi Pujan.

The Prime Minister said in a tweet, “Padmashree Rain Sonam Tshering Lepcha Ji was rich in multifaceted personality. She has consistently made outstanding efforts to popularize the great Lepcha culture. Her countless masterpieces have been respected generation to generation. Distressed by his demise. Deepest condolences to his near family and fans. Om Shanti.”
